Rajan Dental Malo Clinic has introduced a new dental
implant treatment for fixing artificial teeth in the lower
jaw. Gunaseelan Rajan, medical director of Rajan Dental
Malo Clinic, said the new technique - Trefoil Dental Implant treatment - was introduced in USA
a year ago. "In this, we can fix the teeth using three titanium implants. Earlier, we had to use at least four to eight implants," he told
reporters on Friday. Using three dental implants with pre-fabricated titanium framework, the treatment
can be completed with fixed artificial teeth for the lower jaw
within 24 hours, while conventional implant treatment might take longer.
"As the procedure is done in a short time, the cost is also low. It is a light-weight denture," he added.
This might reduce 30% of treatment cost when compared to the prevailing treatment options, a press release said.
Two patients _ B. Gunasekaran, 63, and D. Sandhiya,
29, _ underwent the Trefoil Dental Implant Treatment at the clinic in August.
Ms. Sandhiya had lost almost all her teeth in an accident nearly 10 years ago, while Mr.

Gunasekaran had to remove most of his teeth due to sensitivity issues.

Some people simply cannot afford to pay the expensive costs associated with proper care for their
teeth. These individuals are left with little options and must somehow find a way to get free or low cost dental work in an effort to continue to
maintain their oral hygiene. While free dental care is not
something that is abundantly available, with a little bit of researching and perseverance, it
can certainly be obtained. Below are some tips that will help you find free or cheap dental care.
Locate local dental schools in your area and find out what procedures they offer for free.

Many dental schools offer free services to poor
and low income individuals for a number of reasons. The main reason is so that the students will be able to gain experience
by getting the opportunity to practice various procedures.
And of course the students perform these procedures under the close
supervision of licensed dentist and/or their professors.

Once you find a school that offers the service you are looking
for, be sure to set an appointment quickly because spots fill up fast.
Clinical trials are a great way for many who are poor or uninsured to get free
or low cost dental work done.

If you have certain oral conditions, you may be eligible to be a participant in a clinical
trial. As compensation for allowing them to work on you, many who are
conducting the trial will provide you with free or low cost dental care.
Going to dental clinics in your area is one of the best ways to get free or low cost dental care.
These clinics are usually funded by the state and are there specifically to provide
care for the poor and uninsured. If you fall into this category, a dental
clinic in your area may be a good option for you to consider.

Too many Michigan residents can_t get access to the dental care they need _ and it_s
costing taxpayers dearly. Without access to routine and preventative dental care,
many people turn to the most expensive place to
treat their symptoms: the emergency room. Although ER doctors can provide temporary
relief to patients suffering from pain, underlying dental problems are
too often left to fester. Plus, ER services costs about five times more than the preventative care would
have cost at a dentist_s office. A 2014 study by Anderson Economic Group identified about
7,000 Michigan patients using the emergency room in 2011 to
deal with symptoms from preventable dental issues.
15 million for the services provided to these patients.

About 1,000 of these patients were even hospitalized, but about half
of these hospital stays were for complications
relating to cavities _ a problem that can be handled routinely in a dentist_s chair.
But expensive ER trips aren_t the only costs caused by untreated
dental disease. It often results in absences from school or work.
Even if it doesn_t cause someone to miss time on the job,
the pain and discomfort experienced by sufferers of dental problems can seriously impact their quality of
life. Untreated dental problems also drive up prices in the broader health care market.

The lack of access to dental care disproportionately impacts low-income women,
children and the elderly, many of whom rely on public insurance like Medicaid.
10,000 or more to Medicaid. Too many Michiganders have limited or no access to dental
care. Despite efforts to combat this problem, barriers still
exist. In 2016, nearly half the children covered by Healthy Kids Dental or Medicaid did not receive dental services, according to state data.
But there_s hope. Lawmakers are currently considering legislation that would
expand access to dental care without creating extra costs for taxpayers.
This legislation would allow dentists to hire a new type of dental professional called a dental therapist.
Dental therapists would work under the supervision of a dentist to help
provide basic dental care specifically for people who don_t currently have access.

Sen. Mike Shirkey, R-Clarklake, introduced Senate Bill 541 to
license dental therapists in Michigan, which recently passed the Senate Health Policy Committee with
bipartisan support and now sits before the full Senate for consideration. The bill requires
a dental therapist to graduate from a program approved by the
same body that accredits Michigan_s dental schools and dental hygiene programs.
SB 541 specifically addresses the challenges we
have in Michigan by requiring that at least 50 percent of dental therapists_ patients
be low-income, disabled or uninsured. This bill allows dentists the freedom to expand their practices and gives hygienists an opportunity to further their
training and take on more responsibility if they choose to pursue a dental therapist license.
Dentists need more flexibility to better meet patients_ needs and this could be an important part of that effort.
Several other states have used dental therapists or similarly licensed professionals to help meet the needs of
their residents _ Michigan should simply follow
their lead. Dental therapists would be a smart way to help more people
in Michigan get access to dental care and improve their health,
without saddling taxpayers or the government with additional costs.
SB 541 would help improve oral health in a fiscally
responsible and patient-focused way.

In the field of medical sciences, Pediatric Dentistry is a branch of dentistry which deals with the dental care of oral health from infant age until adolescence.
It basically focuses on the dental treatment of children. As young children are in a
habit to eat sugary items like chocolates and candies they develop a risk
to damage their teeth. It can sometimes lead to tooth decay as well.
Hence, due to this reason a regular dental check up is essential for young children along with the adults.
When a young infant reaches the age of a year it is generally advised by the doctors to give him a proper check up by a pediatric dentist.
It is a matter of fact that children are mostly frightened
to visit to a doctor even for a minor checkup.

Most of the times a visit to a doctor can be scary for the child in the sense
that the clinic have big chairs with bulging lights and the appearance of
a doctor with a mask becomes even threatening. As a pediatric
dentist is trained to deal children and offer treatments in an extremely friendly way
hence, they are more recommended in spite of a regular dentist.
Pediatric dentist has the tact to handle the children and
to ensure proper treatment without scaring them and diverting their attention towards other
healthy activities arranged specially for young ones.

In the initial stages when the infant is yet pre-mature a dental checkup will always remain fear free for the child.

But an advantage of regular visits to a pediatric dentist
at young age can abolish all the fears out of the child as we will become familiar with the clinic, apparatus, equipment and all of above with the doctor himself.
This will create fewer problems for the doctor to handle the child in the later stages as a friendly attitude adopted from the beginning can be very fruitful for the end results.
A pediatric dentist is normally recommended for the children till the age of eighteen. Another good
way to make the child familiar with the fear free dental care
is to read books that are entitled on the concept of ease faced
at a pediatric dentist by a child. There are certain cartoons
and movies which are specifically launched for children to encourage their visits.
Finally, few toys can be carried along in order to divert the attention of the child from the dental checkup and to keep him busy
playing. This can also enable the doctor to examine the
kid with ease.
