Ik wil instappen in VR met mijn huidige een 1080TI. Ik kijk naar brillen van een paar jaar oud om uit te proberen, bijv. een Oculus Rift, Rift S, Quest 2 liggen allemaal rond de €200. Maar daar is een FB-account voor verplicht? Betekent dat ook verplicht bloatware en dat soort troep? Andere optie rond deze prijs is de HTC Vive maar die stamt alweer uit 2016. Ook prima?
Ik wil er vooral mee racen, andere games zijn bijzaak om eens te proberen (Skyrim, Fallout, Hitman of vergelijkbaar).

Tot nu toe blijf je er een premium voor te betalen, Geen idee of HTC door gaat met nieuwe VR headsets.
Denk zelf dat de Valve Index nog steeds de beste is maar voor hele kit zit je ook rond de 1000 Euro.
Je kan voor Oculus gaan, maar hele FB gebeuren en verplichte FB/Meta spul is een HARD PASS voor mij.
Spaar nu gewoon even door.

Eigenlijk is er dus weinig werkelijke keuze? De lagere budget Oculus-, Questbrillen alllemaal via FB-crap. En dan nog een HTC Vive en Valve Index in de volgende prijsklasse. Qua GPU zit ik aan een 1080TI, dat maakt verder niet uit? Heb er verder geen moeite mee om wat meer uit te geven, maar zou zonde zijn als de bril veel te overkill is voor mijn kaart, het gaat al om €200 vs €800 tussen de FB-brillen en een Index.
Oja, ook nog de HP Reverb 2 à €400. Misschien goede tussenoplossing.
Verder eens, Fallout 4 is al één van mijn favoriete games, dus wellicht wordt dat geen bijzaak maar hoofdzaak

Rift werkt nog steeds zonder FB-account. En het besluit om dat in te trekken is teruggedraaid.

Heb een Reverb G2 V2 gevonden en gescoord. Ik denk een goede middenweg tussen €200 Rift/Meta gedoe en de >€800 Valve Index. Resolutie is ook flink, dus wat mij betreft ook toekomstbestendig.
Gisteren al gelijk rot gezocht naar alle VR titels, zit wat leuks tussen maar de AAA-titels zijn op één hand te tellen. Voor Indie/Early Access titels waar de reviews enorm schommelen of een bepaalde topgame opeens totaal verkracht wordt (Onward).
De AAA-titels Fallout of Skyrim wil ik wel proberen, uiteraard HL Alyx, Elite Dangerous, daarnaast zie ik nog een groepje shooters; Onward, Contractors, Pavlov. Maar eerlijk gezegd ben ik van geen van de 3 echt onder de indruk. De HL Alyx mods die ik zie met verschillende schiet-levels zijn al meer indrukwekkend dan die 3 games bij elkaar.
Nog tips voor verborgen games? Op de voorgaande pagina's komt af en toe iets voorbij, maar ik ben het helemaal eens met LaB dat de meeste games erg gimmicky lijken. Even proberen, lachen, daarna weer wegleggen

Waar je bij Skyrim tegenaan loopt is dat je vooral met melee combat bezig bent en dit in VR aanvoelt alsof je met een balonzwaard aan het slaan bent. Fallout heeft dat niet omdat je schiet en dat voelt meteen stukken beter.
Wat mij betreft de meest indrukwekkende VR-titel van allemaal. Zo intens. Zo echt. HOTAS erbij en je waant je echt in een andere wereld.Elite Dangerous
