Ik ben overigens precies 35 dagen RL clean. Must stay strong.

Rocket League’s progression update launches next week
Overhauls XP and removes level cap; Rocket Pass follows a week later

Rocket League’s newest update, which overhauls the game’s XP and progression systems, will roll out to all platforms on Aug. 29, Psyonix announced today.

The Progression Update will be followed, by one week, by the introduction of the “Rocket Pass.” Psyonix said. Both the new XP system and the $9.99 Rocket Pass were announced back in June.

The changes to progression mean that XP will new be earned in online matches, as opposed to offline matches, removes the level cap of 75, and flattens the amount of XP needed to advance a level. Leveling up under the new system earns the player a random item of uncommon or better quality; that replaces the existing system of random drops. Level titles will now be unlocked at certain XP milestones, although all existing titles a player has earned will remain with them.

The Progression Update will also add “Clubs,” which allows players to organize and compete as a team under a custom tag. Clubs will support up to 20 members.

As for Rocket Pass, that will be a premium means of acquiring all of the new content for Rocket League’s currently running event. All of that content can still be earned as unlockables through free play, which Psyonix said back in June would take about 100 hours of play to collect.

Rocket League's Season 9 starts next week
Adds free and premium Hot Wheels DLC.
Rocket League developer Psyonix has announced that the four-wheeled footie phenomenon will be ushering its ninth competitive season on Monday, September 24th.

The accompanying Season 9 update will be released simultaneously on all platforms and, according to Psyonix's latest blog post, introduces a number of new features. Most notably, Rocket League's ninth season marks the arrival of Extra Modes, formerly known as Ranked Sports. This sees Dropshot, Hoops, Rumble, and Snow Day modes lose their Casual status, and join the game's Rank-based Competitive Playlists.

Additionally, Season 9 adds a new in-game soundtrack - Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 4 - plus Season 8 Rewards, and various quality of life improvements and bug fixes. The recently introduced Rocket Pass 1 continues into the new season, concluding on November 26th.

Psyonix's Season 9 update also brings the new Hot Wheels Triple Threat DLC pack, described as "one of our biggest Premium DLC packs ever". Coinciding with Hot Wheels' 50th anniversary celebrations, the new pack transforms three classic Hot Wheels vehicles into Battle-Cars (the Gazella GT, MR11, and Fast 4WD), each with four unique decals. There're also new Gorilla, Snake, and Spider Toppers, and the whole package costs $5.99 USD (around 4.50).

Rocket League's Premium DLC will be accompanied by a selection of free Hot Wheels-themed goodies for all players. Everyone will, for instance, have access to the new Hot Wheels Rivals arena, plus a range of currently unannounced free customisation options.

All this will be available as part of Rocket League's Season 9 update, which launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC next week, on September 24th.

Rocket League now features full cross-platform play between PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC

Psyonix has announced that Rocket League's long-requested PlayStation Cross-Play Beta support is now live, meaning that players on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC can finally indulge in a spot of four-wheeled footie together as one.

This time last year, of course, such an occurrence would have seemed practically unthinkable. Sony remained doggedly resistant to calls from fans and developers for console cross-play on PS4, even as more and more games enabled play between Switch, Xbox One, and PC. Finally though, last September, Sony relented, unveiling its PlayStation Cross-Platform Beta - a programme which, initially at least, would be limited to Epic's all-conquering Fortnite.

Fans of Rocket League, which has featured cross-play support between Xbox One, PC, and Switch since launch on Nintendo's platform, were hopeful that PS4 players would soon join in the fun too following Sony's announcement. At the time, Psyonix was enthusiastic about implementing the feature, but acknowledged that progress would depend on Sony.

Now, just over three months after the launch of the PlayStation Cross-Platform Beta, Psyonix has announced that Rocket League players on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC finally have the option to randomly matchmake with or against each other in all Online match types, including Casual, Competitive, and Extra Modes.

As explained in the developer's latest blog post, cross-platform play between systems is enabled by default. However, if you're unable to find players on other consoles, you should ensure that the 'Cross-Platform Play' box is ticked in the 'Gameplay' tab - and then away you go.

Psyonix also reminds players that more cross-platform features are on the way. Cross-platform parties, for instance - enabling friends to team up and join a public match together, regardless of their console of choice - will arrive as part of Rocket League's first update of 2019. Until then, players can still join up with friends on other console, but only in private matches.

"Today's announcement is an important one for us here at Psyonix, because we know how much our community has wanted FULL cross-platform support for quite some time," the developer wrote, "It's because of YOU, our fans, and our generous partners on all systems and services that have made this possible in the first place.

"On behalf of the entire team, THANK YOU for your passion and persistence as we continue to do our best to make Rocket League the best experience we can."

I like this game just the way it is
