    Assetto Corsa Competizione is the new official Blancpain GT Series videogame.

    CARE FOR DETAILS

    BLANCPAIN GT SERIES
    Encouraged by the success of the Blancpain Endurance Series, which after its creation in 2011 quickly became the global reference for GT racing, world-renowned Swiss watch manufacturer Blancpain and the SRO Motorsports Group decided at the end of 2013 to extend their partnership to the Blancpain Sprint Series. From 2015, teams and drivers were also given the opportunity to compete for an overall Blancpain GT Series title. Varied grids were the result, with a host of respected GT teams and drivers at the start of each race. The Blancpain GT Series also saw an influx of young and talented drivers, making it a worldwide benchmark in GT3 racing.
    With both the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup and Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup now sharing the same driver categories and points system, the ten-round Blancpain GT Series season – comprising five sprint events and five endurance events – crowns the world’s most complete GT drivers.
    A Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup event consists of two races of one hour each, while the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup races range from three-hour events through a 1000 km race to the season highlight of the Total 24 Hours of Spa, one of the world’s leading 24-hour races.

    Nieuwe engine. De dev zei dat de het physics model gewoon kon worden overgezet. Dus betere graphics met dezelfde goede physics. Als er een beetje een lijn in de SP zit, koop ik em misschien als hij afgeprijsd is.

    Assetto Corsa Competizione Is Reinventing Kunos’ Sim Racer
    Race restart.


    Time was that racing games were branded ‘arcade’ and ‘simulation’ and that was the end of it, but then people had to go and make it all complicated. Gran Turismo and Forza just aren’t sim enough for some people, and so there’s the more hardcore sims like rFactor and iRacing. Assetto Corsa leant toward the latter side of the equation with an oft lauded simulation model, but missed some of the career and single player bells and whistles that more mainstream games thrive upon. Even so, it managed to carve out a niche for itself in the sim-heavy racing genre of the last five years, first on PC and then on console.



    While an esports oriented spin off might sound like a pretty straightforward proposition, with the official Blancpain GT Series license adding a core racing competition for Assetto Corsa Competizione, Kunos Simulazioni have thrown practically all that good work out and decided to start from scratch. So they’re back to Early Access on PC, back to the barest of bones with a single car and a single track to try out, though the choices are a little more conventional than those for the first game’s demo.

    While you’ve got a good few racing team liveries to choose between, all you’ll see in this demo at the moment is the 2018 Lamborghini Huracan GT3, and while you can fiddle with weather settings, it’s just a GT layout of the Nurburging GP track. Would that I had the right DLC for Assetto Corsa, I could have made a very direct comparison between the two games, but the difference between the two really is as clear as day.



    Competizione makes the jump from Kunos’ in-house game engine to Unreal Engine 4, which has really started to find a place for itself amongst racing games. The jump in quality for lighting is dramatic, and it helps give Competizione some of the polished feel and drama that we see in Forza Motorsport. In the fullness of time, it will let Kunos add night time racing to the game, which was one of the main reasons for making the change, but in the here and now, simply changing the weather makes for a dramatic change, as the pooled water in a storm reflect the surroundings.

    That said, there’s plenty of nuance still to find here, and Kunos will need to add or reimplement many of the settings available in the first game to keep players happy and level the playing field. While racing in the cockpit or helmet cams rain can stream across the windscreen and force you to turn on your windscreen wipers, but there’s no raindrops or view obstruction when in bonnet cam. One thing worth savouring is that even at this early stage performance is excellent with a Core i5 3570K that comes in near the minimum specs, though this is aided by the much more modern Radeon Vega 56 in my PC to let me turn all the visuals up to max.



    But how does it handle? Compared to the regular Huracan in Assetto Corsa, the Huracan GT is several seconds faster over a lap but a little flightier and a touch livelier. A great deal of that feeling in cockpit cam come from the screen shaking that running over curbs can induce – another thing that I expect sim racers are going to wish they could turn off the instant they load up the game, alongside the glare and reflections in the windshield which are much, much more prominent than in the first game. Only being in Early Access right now and with the next six months of cars, tracks and features already outlined, this is going to change and be improved in the not too distant future.

    On the surface, it feels like Competizione is trading in some of its hard-nosed simulation credentials for the more open and inviting sim racing that we see in GT Sport and Forza, though it’s great to see fully fledged career and championship options greyed out on the main menu. We’ve only been able to spend a short amount of time with the game so far, but the test will obviously be to see if they retain the nuance of their car physics and handling that drew an audience to the first game, combining it with the new glitz and glamour that Unreal and the Blancpain GT Series has leant them.

    Dan wel Early Access, maar Kunos is wel betrouwbaar om te zeggen dat ze dit afronden tot een 100% product Dus die €25 nu is eigenlijk een dikke 50% korting op de prijs straks!


    Ben alleen aan het twijfelen, wat deze game meer gaat brengen dan iRacing met de GT3-auto's? Ja, ziet beter uit, maar het online-gedeelte van iRacing is tig veel plusjes waard.

    Is het niet sowieso lastig om wat voor racer dan ook naast iRacing te leggen? Niets kan volgens mij tippen aan die online-ervaring.

    Oh nee hoor, iRacing is absoluut niet flawless. Ja, online zit het goed in elkaar, het realisme-gehalte is top-notch & je hebt echt serieuze competitie voor clean-racing maar iRacing is zo klinisch als wat. Echte beleving is ver te zoeken in die game. Wat dat betreft hebben Project CARS, Forza Motorsport, Assetto Corsa en deze ACC dat op dat punt al 100x beter voor elkaar.

    Hell, in iRacing mag je inmiddels blij zijn dat er een mannetje met een pit-board klaar staat zodat je weet waar je moet stoppen als je gaat pitten En voor een hyper-realistische game is het nog steeds best raar dat carbon kan buigen

    Maar goed, is ook niet gek, want in de basis is iRacing al bijna 10 jaar oud ofzo. Toen hadden ze niet de resourcing om én het tire-model op orde te krijgen, en ook nog even fancy grand stands te animeren. Inmiddels... mja, ik denk dat de engine ook zo z'n beperkingen heeft. ACC is nu opgebouwd op Unreal4, from scratch. Maybe moet iRacing dat ook overwegen?

    iRacing is niet verkeerd, maar wel f@cking duur als je het leuk wil hebben.
    Voor mij genoeg reden om iRacing helemaal links te laten liggen, de alternatieven zijn goedkoper en hoeven niet minder leuk te zijn.

    ACC staat nog in de kinderschoenen, ik heb hem wel aangeschaft.
    Maar het speelt nog niet optimaal, er zijn nog een heleboel punten die uitgewerkt en verbeterd moeten/mogen worden.
    Ben wel erg benieuwd waar dat heen gaat!
    De basis is alvast wel goed!

    Eigenlijk hetzelfde wat helaas voor alle Kunos producten geld. Van Netkar Pro naar Assetto Corsa naar nu dit, de basis is super maar het lijkt alsof het team wat mensen mist die de puntjes op de i verzorgen.

    Ik denk dat het een budget-dingetje is? Het fine-tunen en maken van content, dat kost tijd en geld.
    M.i. kunnen ze het wel, maar missen ze óf hoeveel mensen om het tegelijk te doen, óf het kost ze veul tijd om dat door de huidige mensen te doen.

    Vind hem neit echt wiebelen. lichte subtiele slinger als je de bochten uit rijd. Plus Vid heeft heel erg shaky cam. En er zijn wat frameskips die ook niet echt helpt.
    911 heeft een RR layout dus achterwiel aandrijving achter de as van de Auto/Aandrijving. Echte klassike 911 konden je zo nekken toen de Turbo's uitkwamen.
    930 turbo oid die rond de jaren 70/80 uit kwam (droom auto buiten een Singer variant)
    Hebben ook de naam Widowmaker gekregen gezien mede eigenaar van die tijd geregeld om het leven kwam.

    Wiebelt? Wat bedoel je daarmee dan?
    Wellicht omdat dit straatauto's zijn, en die hebben natuurlijk veel meer vering dan circuit-auto's? AC is wat dat betreft echt wel realistisch aangezet. Feitelijk is dit ook geen Competizione, maar de 'normale' AC met mods.

    Enige wat ik echt vond wiebelen is de camera
